Your First Consultation at OA Facial Plastics

Thinking about a cosmetic or restorative procedure is one thing. Actually picking up the phone to schedule a consultation is another. For many patients, that gap between curiosity and action comes down to one thing: not knowing what to expect when they walk through the door.

A consultation at OA Facial Plastics is not a sales appointment or a commitment to any procedure, but a conversation, one where you get to ask questions, share your concerns, and leave with a clearer picture of what's possible for you.

Here's exactly what the process looks like.

Before You Come In

Before you come into your consultation it’s helpful if you spend some time reflecting on what’s bringing you in. Ask yourself: What am I noticing that I'd like to change? Is it something I’ve always wanted to address or am I just starting to feel less like myself? Both are completely valid starting points, and both give your provider something meaningful to work with. It also helps to jot down any questions you have ahead of time.

If you're considering a surgical procedure, think about your timeline. Do you have any upcoming events, travel, or obligations that would affect your ability to take time off for recovery? This context helps your provider give you practical guidance, not just clinical information.

When You Arrive

When you first arrive, you'll be greeted and brought back to meet with one of our providers. The conversation will start with you. Your provider will ask what brought you in and what you're hoping to achieve. From there, we’ll conduct a clinical assessment. For surgical consultations, this typically involves a thorough evaluation of your facial anatomy, skin quality, and underlying structure. Photographs are often taken to be used as a reference tool. For injectable or skincare consultations, the assessment focuses on skin texture, volume distribution, facial movement, and tone.

You'll have time to ask questions, and your provider will be direct about what's realistic, what recovery or downtime may look like, what results you can expect and over what timeframe, as well as any potential treatment alternatives.

Questions Worth Asking

There are no wrong questions in a consultation. That said, here are a few that tend to lead to the most useful conversations:

  • What would you recommend, and why? Understanding the reasoning behind a recommendation helps you evaluate whether it aligns with your goals and comfort level.

  • What are the realistic outcomes for someone with my anatomy? Expectations grounded in your specific features are what set you up for results you love.

  • What does recovery look like? Understanding what your schedule will need to accommodate is essential before committing to any procedure.

  • Are there non-surgical options I should consider first? This is a question our providers welcome. The answer may be yes, no, or somewhere in between, but it's always worth asking.

  • Are there risks I should know about? A provider who gives you an honest answer to this question is one you can trust. Transparency about risks is a sign of clinical integrity.

Our Role

Our role in a consultation is to give you accurate, personalized information so that whatever decision you make—whether that's booking a procedure, taking more time to think, or deciding this isn't the right path for you—is one you feel confident about. Some patients leave a consultation with a clear next step. Others leave with a better understanding of their options and come back weeks or months later when the timing is right.

We see patients across a wide range of ages, backgrounds, and starting points. Some are coming in for the first time after years of curiosity and some are navigating a functional concern and are exploring their restorative options. All of them started with a first conversation.

OA Facial Plastics serves patients throughout the Greater Indianapolis area, offering surgical, injectable, and skincare services with board-certified otolaryngologist physicians and licensed aesthetic professionals. If you’re ready to book your consultation, our team is happy  to help you find the right provider when you call (317) 708-6984.
